Transmission question... let me rephrase this.?

ok so my transmission went out on my ford tauras. its a 2000. my uncle said he would fix it so i got a transmission and he started. he stoped right before he got the old one out and it hasnt been touched since november of 07. i really need it fixed now would a shop fix it? roughly how much?
