Will i hurt myself doing a back handspring?

Ok so i do gymnastics and im not very good, i can do basic skills like front handsprings and im pretty athletically built so learning skills isn't that hard for me. I do take lessons but i never got to the point where i learned how to do a back handspring on the floor. I can bang them out beautifully on a tumble track or tramp, but i don't know if i should try it on the gr because i don't wanna hurt myself. Is it a bad idea to try them on the gr?
